During 25th-30th of May, 2008, experts of Fenwei carried out a investigation of the coal and coke supply-demand relationship as well as its pricing for Xinjiang Province.
The team of experts interviewed respectively the Development & Reform Commission, the Statistical Bureau and the related governmental agency superintending coal industry, obtained information about the supply-demand condition and future planning of the coal industry in the autonomous region. They also made a field survey to Aiweir mining area, the origin of Xinjiang coking coal and learnt about present production capacity of coking coal and the future expansion of its output as well.
The experts then inspected such coking manufactures as BaoSteel Group Xinjiang Bayi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, the largest in Xinjiang, and Hongji Coking Co., Ltd, the largest province-owned coking company and the listed company, Xinjiang international coking Co., Ltd as well. At Bayi Iron & Steel, they consulted the source and qualifications of coking coal, its output, and the import of coal, along with the company’s overall development planning.
In light of the field survey, experts determined that the potential for the output expansion of Xinjinag coal industry lies in thermal coal. As the enterprises of iron & steel as well as coking expand rapidly, the demand for coking coal will increase accordingly.
